Junior Football History

History

Founded in 1974, Sunbury Football Club – Junior Division is one of the oldest junior clubs in the Riddell District Football League. The club was formed as part of the Oak Park Junior Football League with teams fielded in the U9, U11 & U14 age groups. After years of momentum and expansion, the junior club left the OPJFL and joined the RDJFL in 1982. Since this time the Sunbury Football Club – Junior Division has enjoyed success with many premierships across all age groups and can boast several past junior players who have been drafted to the AFL.

The junior football club now caters for a rapid growth of player registrations with around 250 players participating in 8 teams of football & 4 teams of netball each Sunday morning.
